While metaverse is in progress, Qualcomm is in action

Recently, Qualcomm announced the establishment of Xiaolong metaverse fund with a total amount of US $100 million, which aims to become a startup platform for XR developers and enterprises and support them to build a basic technology and content ecosystem for metaverse. At the same time, Qualcomm announced to jointly create a head worn AR / MR game experience with the game manufacturer schweill Enix (hereinafter referred to as Se). This is the second time that Qualcomm has established metaverse after Xiaolong XR special platform and spaces XR developer platform. From dedicated hardware to tool platforms to developer ecology, Qualcomm is building the key to metaverse.

Metaverse is a ubiquitous “spatial Internet”, which can connect the real world and the virtual world and create a personalized digital experience.

To realize the seamless interaction between human and everything in metaverse, we must first solve the problem of spatial computing. The fund enables and supports the innovation of the whole ecosystem through venture capital and funding for content developer ecology. It is reported that Xiaolong metaverse fund application will be officially opened in June 2022.

Se, a big game maker, has a persistent pursuit of deeper narrative and more immersive game experience. Its “Final Fantasy” series has sold more than 164 million sets worldwide and the “Tomb Raider” series has sold more than 85 million sets worldwide.

Narrative adventure games are the game category that se is good at.
