Chen Gen: Microsoft is the object that metaverse should learn

Wen / Chen Gen

There are many discussions about metaverse, and different opinions appear almost every day. Some institutions will also issue various reports on metaverse. But what kind of metaverse are we talking about today? I don’t think anyone can describe it clearly at present. Although I have always said that metaverse is an era that will come in the future, what will the era that will come in the future look like? We can’t describe it today. Not only can it not be described, but even the basic outline can not be described.

We can’t even describe the real meaning of “metaverse” based on today’s form or “metaverse” based on today’s form. Of course, from the perspective of national entertainment, this discussion is valuable and meaningful. At least it can cultivate people’s perception of cutting-edge technology, science fiction and science fiction stories.

However, if we want to really move forward from the current manufacturing power to a manufacturing power and truly realize the dream of a scientific and technological power, we need to learn from these technology giants in the United States. I talked before about our desire to develop metaverse and learn from apple, Intel, Qualcomm, etc. today I want to talk about our need to learn from another technology hard core giant in the United States, that is Microsoft.

According to Japanese media reports, Microsoft’s mixed reality & AI Lab Research team recently announced the successful development of new VR black technology. Players only need to wear VR glasses to capture the movements of head and hands to generate a virtual whole body image.

Mixed Reality & Aiming at the current situation that VR glasses cannot capture and claim virtual human, AI Lab Research team has researched and developed a new system “flag: flow based avatar generation from spark observations”, so that users can generate virtual whole-body images only by wearing VR glasses and capturing the movements of head and hands.

Although this is only a study, what we see is the pragmatic spirit of these technology giants in the United States in scientific and technological innovation. They don’t talk much about the science fiction metaverse concept, but based on their own advantageous scientific and technological strength, and then through some cutting-edge technological research, they constantly optimize their own technological breakthrough and R & D direction. The essence of Microsoft’s research is not at the level of VR technology, but with the help of this future cutting-edge technology research to optimize its core product, that is, the operating system platform.

For these technology giants in the United States, they are too clear about the development law of science and technology and the development trend of science and technology. Metaverse is just some popular concept Carnival in the Asia Pacific region, or more accurately, metaverse term carnival. As for whether it will be called metaverse in the future, it is highly likely that it will not be called metaverse again. In other words, it is hard to say whether the term metaverse can revel until 2023.

Through the pragmatic research of the US technology giants, we can see that they have strengthened their own technological edge and strengthened their own technological edge. These technology giants focus on the voice and pricing power of the underlying core technologies, whether at the system level or hardware level.

Therefore, instead of spending so much time and energy reveling with Zuckerberg’s metaverse word making movement, we might as well focus on the development of underlying industrial technology. We need to guide more talents and funds to enter the bottom industrial chain for innovation, rather than Carnival at the nominal level. Microsoft is just an example worthy of our study. It is an enterprise that does not talk about metaverse, but pragmatic and constantly establishes a moat at the application level of the underlying software system.
