The report believes that entertainment may be one of the fastest landing scenes of metaverse at present, and the immersion brought by technology upgrading will bring significant experience improvement to users. Metaverse has had initial landing scenes in film and television, performances and activities, and has broad prospects for development in the future. In the social field, metaverse uses holographic virtual image technology to build a virtual reality platform. The interactive mode extends from simple voice, text, pictures and videos to shopping, shopping, watching concerts and playing games that break through the limitation of time and space. This immersive immersive experience will greatly improve the user experience and increase the user stickiness.
In the retail field, people in metaverse not only have users’ digital avatars, but also virtual idols. In the future, consumers can buy clothes, beauty makeup, travel tools and even homes for their digital avatars. The combination of virtual and real will also bring new growth space. Brands have also begun to cooperate with metaverse platform to create a virtual space to provide consumers with a new shopping scene. In terms of manufacturing industry, metaverse can promote the intelligent upgrading of manufacturing industry, collect and analyze the data of product R & D, manufacturing and sales by building an industrial digital twin with the same proportion as the real world, feed the calculation results back to the real production, improve planning and design, and improve production efficiency and product quality, Help enterprises realize the transformation from manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing.
In the medical field, metaverse can play a role in pathological research, diagnosis, telemedicine, patient care and monitoring. With the progress of technology, virtual diagnosis and treatment will also improve from 2D to 3D experience, which may open a significant progress in medicine. In terms of telecommuting, telecommuting and online communication are becoming more and more normalized under the epidemic. Metaverse’s “holographic virtual conference” can create an immersive sense and improve the sense of presence, immersion and even ceremony that are lacking in the current teleconference. As long as you wear special glasses, the holographic projection conference room, product model and screen will all appear in front of you, and the participants will also appear around you in three-dimensional form.
Chen Jiande, the managing partner of KPMG’s China Communications, media and technology industry, said that metaverse has attracted extensive attention. On the one hand, it has benefited from the continuous development of various core technologies and hardware, and some consumer oriented products have been launched; On the other hand, COVID-19 has changed the way people live and work, accelerated the digital transformation of enterprises, and provided an opportunity for the rapid development of Metaverse concept. Lu Feipeng, the audit partner in charge of KPMG’s China Communications, media and technology industry, also said that metaverse has rich application scenarios on the consumer side (to c), enterprise side (to b) and government side (to g), which will have a profound impact on these fields. The economic and business model changes driven by metaverse may also give birth to new business forms.
However, the report also emphasizes that while seeing the broad development space of metaverse, we should also see that metaverse, as a huge systematic project, is currently in the early stage of development, and it may still take a long time for it to be widely used. At this stage, special attention should be paid to preventing the hype of the concept of metaverse. Kang Yong, chief economist of KPMG China, said that there are still many core problems to be solved for the future development of metaverse, especially the challenges from five aspects: technological breakthrough, lifestyle, social ethics, privacy and data security, and legislative supervision.
